Youth Mobility Program (YMP) Canada - Switzerland

The YMP Canada - Switzerland is designed for young workers and students who wish to gain in Switzerland professional expertise in their field of studies. Whatever profession or trade, a work experience for a period up to 12 months (with possibility of a 6 month extension) is accessible under this official program between the two countries.

Candidates must:

be a Canadian citizen and at the time he applies for the YMP be living /residing in Canada ;

be an university graduate or possess, after a minimum of 2 year education, a post-secondary diploma or certificate from a college, Cegep or an institue of technology OR ;
have a secondary education and have completed a minimum of 2 year training (apprenticeship) OR ;
be a student, in the course of his studies, to complete an occupational training as part of itscurriculum;
be between the age of 18 and 35 (incl.);
be able, at a point in time, to present a signed contract with a Swiss employer; contract which must repect the prevailing conditions of employment in Switzerland.

This latest condition involves on your part a research to identify a suitable employment. International Youth Experience (IYE) will help you realize this.

IYE will provide you with:

A list of potential employers in Switzerland;
Pertinent information on employment research in Switzerland and curriculum vitae (resume);
Upon request, IYE will assess your curriculum vitae and your offer of services so that your qualifications and expertise be well brought out;
A letter of introduction to Swiss employers that clearly indicates that, from the Canadian point of view, you personally qualified under this “official” program Canada-Switzerland

The letter of introduction is very important as it reassures potential employers on your credibility in indicating that you meet the conditions and admission criteria as set the Protocol Agreement between Canada and Switzerland which should facilitate the issuance of a work permit.


Upon request, IYE will assess your curriculum vitae (or résumé) and your offer of services so that your qualifications and expertise be well brought out.

A professional experience in a foreign country is a great investment in your future and, as a matter of choice, Switzerland is certainly one of the finest countries in the world as for its culture, business, services, technology etc.

It's high level of employment  (around 2% of unemployed only)  is surely an advantage when you are looking for a job as trainee.

But ones must proceed by steps and the first one consists of putting an application with IYE. Thereafter, we will be in position to bring you our assistance as described above.
